The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the Delhi & District Cricket Association’s (DDCA) proposal to host the Delhi Premier League (DPL). As per a report by News18 CricketNext, DDCA Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda confirmed that the BCCI approved the tournament last week. He expressed gratitude to the apex board for granting permission to organise the competition.


This is expected to come as a significant boost for cricket in the Indian capital, offering a new platform for local cricketers to showcase their talent.

DDCA Joint Secretary Thanks BCCI For Approval To Organize DPL


The DDCA Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda confirmed that while the start date and schedule for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) are yet to be finalised, the DDCA aims to complete the tournament before September 15. Manchanda expressed gratitude to the BCCI for approving the competition and mentioned that tenders to execute the DPL will be called within a week.


“We are thankful to the BCCI for granting us the permission to hold the DPL. Within a week, we are going to call the tenders to execute the DPL. We have a target of completing the tournament before 15th September,” Manchanda said as per News18.


“We are thankful to the board for giving us the platform. We have proved ourselves during the World Cup and now we again have the opportunity to show the cricket fraternity how we are going to conduct our DPL in the newly constructed stadium,” Manchanda added.

The DPL joins an expanding list of state-level T20 leagues in India, which includes competitions in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Baroda, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Bengal. The introduction of the DPL marks an exciting new chapter for Delhi’s cricketing scene.
