Despite known as the ‘Gentlemen’s Game’, cricket has witnessed a number of tussles on the field. However, the one which recently happened during a match in the North Wales Cricket League turned can be ranked ugliest of all times.


The incident took place in a match between St Asaph and Northop when St Asaph opening batsman Matt Ryan wasn’t ready to accept his dismissal even after the on-field umpire raised his finger. In return, one of the Northop fielders turned furious as Ryan decided not to leave the field.


It resulted in some heated exchange between the players and eventually, the verbal fight turned physical. The players into an ugly spat which resulted in the batsman’s helmet got knocked off before any other cricketer from the fielding side could intervene.






As stated by an eyewitness, it was something different than the game of cricket. He said, “It was certainly cricket with a difference. I’ve never seen anything like it. The crowd were amazed.”


On the other hand, the Northop team manager Dale Harley and St Asaph skipper William Ryan have not commented anything yet, but the incident is said to have been reported to league officials.
