Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles was seen playing cricket on the premises of Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday. This comes a day after the Australian team lifted their sixth ICC Cricket World Cup title after defeating the host India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat's Ahmedabad.  






Richard Marles also tried some of the street food and had the experience of using a digital payment interface to pay for the street food. Earlier today, the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles, along with Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong, visited and laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in Delhi.


Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. India scored 240/10 in 50 overs with the help of half-centuries by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who scored Virat Kohli (54 off 63) and KL Rahul (66 off 107). Rohit Sharma initiated a solid start for India, scoring 30 runs in just four overs, taking charge against Josh Hazlewood.


Australia's innings commenced shakily as David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith fell early, leaving Australia at 47-3. However, opener Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne constructed a formidable 192-run partnership, with Travis Head getting out on 137 only after the team needed 2 runs for a win. Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 and steered Australia to victory, securing their sixth ICC 50-over World Cup trophy.


After the match, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, presented the coveted ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy to Australian skipper Pat Cummins.


India had won ten matches in a row and were the favourites leading upto this match but were outplayed by Australia on the day who had started their tournament by losing two matches in a row but then went on to win nine in a row including the final to further extend their dominance in World Cricket.
