Cricket Australia have named Josh Inglis as the new skipper for the remainder of the matches against Pakistan, as the board has decided to give Pat Cummins, alongside few other key players, necessary rest, keeping in mind the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series at home against India.
The decision will now see the Australian wicket-keeper batsman take the reigns for 3rd ODI and all the three T20I series against Pakistan, as Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith will be playing their last match of the ongoing series on Friday, November 8, at the Adelaide Oval.
National Selection Panel Chair, George Bailey, said in a released statement that Josh Inglis' previous leadership experience with Australia A and positive approach led to the board taking this call.
"Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role," said George Bailey.
"Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis," he added.
