Australia ODI World Cup squad: Cricket Australia has announced their official team for 2023 ICC Men's ODI World Cup, scheduled to be played in India in October-November. The names of 15 members of Australian cricket team, captained by senior pacer Pat Cummins have come to the fore. Five-time world champion Australia was the first to announce a provisional squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup, out of which now 15 names have been finalised. There are no new or surprising changes in the team. Last month, Australia announced a preliminary squad of 18 players for the ODI World Cup, which was reduced to 15 on Wednesday (September 6). Less than a month is left for the start of 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The three players who have not found a place in the final fifteen are all-rounder Aaron Hardie, fast bowler Nathan Ellis and young spinner Tanveer Sangha.
The selectors have included experienced players in Australia's ODI World Cup 2023 squad. The biggest name to miss out is star Test player Marnus Labuschagne. Australia will play 2023 ODI World Cup with four leading pacers, three pace all-rounders, two spinners and one spin all-rounder. Australia's pace attack consists of fast bowlers Pat Cummins (captain), Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Sean Abbott.
The selectors have picked five proper batsmen: Steve Smith, David Warner, Travis Head, Alex Carey and Josh Inglis. Carey and Josh Inglis are the two wicket-keeper batters. The four all-rounders are Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell. The two spinners are Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa. In this way, Australian cricket team has 10 different bowling options.
