Asia Cup 2023 is all set to commence on August 30 with designated hosts Pakistan set to take on Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium. While there were a lot of speculation on whether India will travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament, eventually it was decided that the India matches will be played at a neutral venue with Sri Lanka co-hosting the tournament along with Pakistan. But now a picture has gone viral on social media in which "Pakistan" can be seen written on the India jersey.
Even as the news could not be independently verified, the Indian team could well be seen wearing that jersey. This is because teams will be required to have the Asia Cup logo on their T-shirts along with the name of the hosts which officially continue to be Pakistan even as the matches are being across Pakistan and Sri Lanka with India matches scheduled entirely in the island nation.
Here is the viral picture:
Talking about Asia Cup 2023, the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match is scheduled to be played on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. There is a chance that as many as three India-Pakistan clashes could be played as part of this competition. While the first IND-PAK game would be a Group A fixture, they can then meet in a Super 4 fixture and then again in the final.
The Super Four, India vs Pakistan match, if it happens will be played on September 10 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The final, meanwhile, will be played at the same venue a week later on September 17.
While all matches in Pallekele will start at 1 pm (IST), matches in Colombo are scheduled for a 2 pm (IST) start. The tournament opener in Multan will get underway at 03:30 pm (IST) while the Bangladesh vs Afghanistan match in Lahore will begin at 01:30 pm (IST). The other two matches in Lahore are 03:30 pm (IST) starts.
