Stand-in Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been leading the side superbly in the ongoing Asia Cup. Firstly, he took out the team out of trouble against Hong Kong and then led like a boss against Pakistan and Bangladesh. His next mission is grabbing the ticket to the finale for which his me have to deal with with the Pakistani challenge.

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has hailed Rohit’s evolution after getting the onus of leading the side in the Asian Major.

“I think the planning takes place inside the dressing room but that plan can actually go awry and for that, you need a captain to take on the spot decisions,” Gavaskar said in an interview.

“Over here [Asia Cup] as well, every time he has got an opportunity to captain India, he has shown his acumen and he has shown how patient he can be and then as a batsman, the added responsibility, only makes him better,” Gavaskar added.

Gavaskar went on to appreciate Jadeja for his terrific comeback.

“I think Ravindra Jadeja merits his place because I believe he is a better bowler, batsman, and fielder but what the selection committee thinks, we will see in the next few months,” he said.

Rohit’s next mission is against Pakistan again on Sunday in the second Super 4 fixture at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
