Australia's left-arm orthodox spinner Ashton Agar suffered a gruesome injury on the bridge of his nose during Western Australia’s Marsh One-Day Cup match against South Australia on Sunday. Agar injured his nose badly after dropping a catch which was hit straight to him by his own brother Wes at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.

Agar who is usually considered as one of the better fielders in Australian cricket circles was fielding at mid-on, where he ran to cover ground and attempt a straightforward catch off his younger sibling Wes but slipped, ending up getting smashed by the red cherry right between his eyes.

With blood on Agar’s face, teammate Jhye Richardson signaled for medical assistance as Wes Agar immediately ran over to check on his brother's well-being.

Such was the impact of the blow that it knocked Agar's hat and sunglasses of his head but after getting timely treatment on the field, the elder Agar was able to leave the field holding a rag to his head.

He was photographed smiling as he left the field but was expected to play no further part in the match.
