After losing the Ashes urn to Australia, England decided to drop out-of-form Jason Roy and Craig Overton in favour of all-rounders Chris Woakes and Sam Curran for the fifth and final Ashes Test that will start on Thursday at The Oval.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Ben Stokes will not bowl and play as a specialist batsman due to a shoulder injury. The 21-year-old Curran will be making his Ashes debut.
"(Roy) is very aware of where he's at and what he needs to do to have success at this level," England captain Joe Root said on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Aussie skipper Tim Paine announced Mitch Marsh has been included in Australia's 12-man squad for the Oval Test. Travis Head misses out after playing the first four Tests of the series.
"The reason Travis isn’t playing is because we felt we needed extra bowling after a long series," skipper Tim Paine said.
"We want to get the make-up right for this Test and unfortunately Travis misses out.", he added.
Australia have retained the Ashes by winning the fourth Test at Old Trafford to take a 2-1 lead in the series. England will now be looking to avoid a first series loss against Australia at home in Tests since 2001.
