Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the finest off-spinners that India has ever produced. Over the years, he has been playing a crucial role in India’s victory, especially in the red-ball format, both on home soil and overseas. Currently, he is taking part in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Ashwin broke two records of former India legend Anil Kumble as the Tamil Nadu based spinner again proved his worth by bagging 6 wickets and helped India bundle out Australia to 480 runs in the first innings and also became the highest wicket-taker (113) for India in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kumble took 111 wickets. These wickets were crucial as they came on the pitch where there was no help for the spinners.

Ashwin also broke the record of picking the most five wickets in India, this record was also made by Anil Kumble earlier. Kumble took to his Twitter handle and wished Ashwin for his achieving this feat.

"Well Bowled Ashwin, Class," tweeted Kumble.

After the second day's play, Ashwin said, "No one spell is better than the other. And I felt at various stages in this particular series, be it in Delhi, the numbers probably don't give you a five or six but the ball is coming out beautifully."

"...and whatever changes I have put in -- loading (getting into delivery stride), cocking my wrists (wrist position), all those things have proved that my spells have been a lot more penetrative," he said.

Earlier, Shubman Gill scored his second Test century and helped India to a dominant position. Virat Kohli also made a half-century and is currently batting on 64 alongside Jadeja who is there on 22. India reached a total of 300 and now trailing by 180 runs on day 4.
