Umar Akmal and online trolls share a close relation. More than his batting, the Pakistan cricketer makes news by his social media posts. On Sunday, he took to another level by mistakenly mentioning IPL instead of PSL in a video message posted on his twitter handle.

In a bid to encourage the fans more by promoting the Pakistan leg of PSL 2019, Akmal decided to post a video message. But unfortunately, ended up saying IPL instead of PSL, before going on to correct it. The damage was already by then. Akmal’s IPL video message went viral, attracting mora embarrassment for the talented middle-order batsman.

“Zaahir si baat hai Quetta ki team Karachi aayi hui hai aur hum apne home ground pe khel rahe hai, aur crowd jitna bhi support karega humari team ko, team utna accha perform karegi. Aur crowd issi tarike se har team ko support karega toh agla IPL (corrects), sorry PSL yahi pe hoga [It is obvious that with Quetta at home in Karachi, we will be banking on our home support. As many people come out and support us, the better our team will perform. If the crowd continues to support us like this then the next IPL, sorry PSL, will be played here only],” Akmal said.

Akmal represents Quetta Gladiators in PSL. The fourth edition of PSL returned to Pakistan after 26 matches in UAE. Karachi will host eight matches in the Pakistan leg of the tournament as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier decided to shift three matches from Lahore after political and military tension between India and Pakistan.

The Pakistan leg of PSL 2019 began from March 7 with Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi locking horns.

However, not all is going downhill for Akmal. He recently made a comeback to the Pakistan ODI squad for the Australia series in UAE after the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to rest the regulars to keep them fresh for the World Cup.

Shoaib Malik will lead Pakistan against Australia in place of regular captain Sarfraz Ahmed.
