Several reports have claimed lack of facilities at the venue and a substandard drainage system as well as an untrained ground staff which led to the match not even witnessing the captains walking out for toss despite there being no rain on the first two days of the Test.
With the Greater Noida Sports Stadium being a clay-based venue, unlike most other venues which are sand based, the outfield was never able to recover and persisten rains from Day 3 onwards it seemed unlike at all stages that there would be play with the teams not even bothering to report to the ground.
