Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim put up a solid fightback by playing 69 run knock but it was not enough as Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan by 142 runs. With this win, Afghanistan has now taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz played an innings of his life, smashing 145 runs alongside Ibrahim Zadran who scored 100 and powered Afghanistan to 331-9 against Bangladesh in the second one-day international in Chittagong on Saturday.

Bangladesh came to play this match after Tamim Iqbal’s saga who took a shocking decision by announcing retirement on Thursday and later revoked his resignation a day later.  Talking about the game, the Bangla Tigers who lost the first game by 17 runs, decided to bowl first after stand-in skipper Liton Das won the toss. It was Afghan openers who provided a solid start by forging 256 runs for the opening wicket, the highest for the country. In reply,  Farooqi and Mujeeb wreaked havoc with the new ball, destroying Bangladesh's top order during the powerplay. While bowling, they also maintained the economy rate, putting Bangladesh on the back foot. However, Mushfiqur fought hard but in the end, he was snared by Farooqi, who helped his team win the game.
