Adam Gilchrist Names MS Dhoni Among Top Three Greatest Wicket-Keeper Batsmen

Australia's legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist, renowned for his record-setting career, is often cited as one of the top wicketkeepers globally. He is frequently mentioned alongside MS Dhoni, a two-time World Cup winner, and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara as among the greatest in the world. However, when asked to name the best wicketkeeper, Gilchrist gave an unexpected response.

In response to a Times of India question, Gilchrist named MS Dhoni as the second-best wicketkeeper in the world and Kumar Sangakkara as the third-best. He considered former Australian wicketkeeper Rodney Marsh to be the best wicketkeeper of all time.

Describing Rodney Marsh as his idol, Gilchrist expressed his desire to emulate the legendary Australian player's style. He praised MS Dhoni for his composure, noting that he admires Dhoni's coolness. Regarding Kumar Sangakkara, Gilchrist highlighted his exceptional skills, noting that the former Sri Lanka skipper excelled in all aspects, from top-order batting to wicket-keeping.

"Rodney Marsh, he was my idol. That's who I wanted to be. MS Dhoni, I like his coolness. He did it in his way, always calm. And Kumar Sangakkara. He was so classy in everything he did, batting high up the order and with his keeping skills," said Gilchrist, speaking to The Times of India.

Adam Gilchrist has expressed confidence in the Australian team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to be played later this year.

India has won the last two editions of IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is aiming for a hat-trick. Gilchrist anticipates a tough competition between the two teams, emphasizing that it is Australia's responsibility to demonstrate their strength on home soil.

"Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India know how to go away and win overseas," said Gilchrist, speaking to The Times of India.

"Naturally, I'm going to say Australia, hope they get there. But it's too close to call. It will be a close tussle," the ex-Aussie star said.
