Amid India’s struggle to register their first victory in the ongoing Test series, all-rounder Axar Patel has made the headlines with his terrific County debut for Durham. Playing a crucial role in his team’s terrific victory against Glamorgan, the 24-year-year cricketer from Gujarat scalped three wickets and also played an unbeaten 95-run knock.

In response to Glamorgan’s minimal 154 in the first innings, Durham openers had a blistering start and stitched a partnership of 94 runs for the opening wicket. Unfortunately, the middle order collapsed which allowed Patel to take the crease early.

He batted with the tail-enders and exhibited some terrific batting as he scored most of his runs in boundaries. Batting at an amazing strike rate of 95.96, Patel scored 95 runs off 99 deliveries and smashed 12 boundaries and 2 sixes.

After picking two wickets in the first innings, he struck once again in the second and helped the Durham jets to register an extraordinary win by an innings and 30 runs against Glamorgan.

Axar Patel has an astonishing average of 53.79 in 25 First-Class matches including a ton and 11 fifties. However, he is yet to make a debut for India in whites.
