On this day back in 2011, the world witnessed the great Virat Kohli for the first time in red ball format. He made his debut on June 20, 2011, against West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica where he did not have a great outing as he managed to make only 19 runs in the entire match. While batting in the first innings, he scored four runs while in the second innings, he made 15 runs from 54 balls and was eventually dismissed by Fidel Edwards. However, India ended up winning the game by 63 runs. Though Kohli could not score many runs, cricket pundits discovered the hidden talent in him.

Ever since the Delhi-based batter started playing Test cricket for India, he has created a major impact both as a batter and skipper. In the 109 Tests, Virat collected 28 centuries at an average of 48.72. Talking about his highest Test score, it came against  South Africa at Pune in 2019, when he gathered 254 runs.

Currently, the former India batter is standing 13th in the latest ICC Test rankings. So far in his career, he has amassed 8479 runs in cricket's longest format at a strike rate of 55.34.

Recently, the star India batter shared photos and videos of his high-intensity workout video ahead of the Windies tour.

"Look for excuses or look to get better’, he captioned the post.

The Men in Blue will be locking horns with West Indies in two-Tests, three One-Day-Internationals (ODIs), and a five-match T20 International series, starting from July 12. With this series, the new World Test Championship Cycle (2023-25) will start for India.
