New Delhi: England cricket team's newly-appointed skipper Ben Stokes is playing county cricket for Durham these days. The flamboyant all-rounder scored 82 runs off 110 balls with two sixes and eight fours during the match against Glamorgan in County Championship Division II.

Meanwhile, apart from enjoying the best form of his life, Stokes had to deal with a bit of an awkward and painful moment during the match. The new England red-ball captain was floored after he edged a short-pitched delivery from Australian batting star Marnus Labuschagne 'on the box'. The video of the painful incident went viral on social media.

Australian legend Marnus Labuschagne bowled 8.3 overs for Glamorgan. It was during this spell when Stokes could not contain himself for going big on a short delivery from Labuschagne, who bowled a leg-break. After being hit by the ball, Stokes fell flat on the ground and looked in immense pain.

Stokes was playing unbeaten 33 off 52 balls when the incident took place. The video of the incident has been shared via the official Twitter handle of the County Championship.

The England cricket team first lost the Ashes Test series against Australia and then lost the home Test series against India. Since then the sword was hanging on the Test captaincy of star batter Joe Root.

Recently, Root stepped down as England's Test captain, after which Ben Stokes was given the captaincy of the national Test team. Stokes has been in excellent form in county cricket. He previously scored 161 runs off just 88 balls against Worcestershire in the same league with the help of eight fours and 17 sixes.

Stokes' form will be key ahead of England's three-match Test series against New Zealand. England vs New Zealand 1st Test will start from June 2nd at the iconic Lord's cricket ground.
