Iconic Ultimate Championship Fighting (UFC) fighter Conor McGregor has made his much-awaited announcement of an official return to the octagon as the Irishman announced it via his social media handle.

The former undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion announced that he will be facing Michael Chandler on June 29.

“Ladies and gentlemen, happy new year to you all. I'd like to announce the return date for myself, the notorious Conor McGregor, the greatest comeback of all time, will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week on June 29th, come a little closer, and the opponent.... Michael Chandler, and the weight Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds,” said Conor McGregor in a joyous manner as seen in the video.

Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor have a history between them in the past as they have coached against each other and this fixture will be a promising one as it will be expected to sell the whole house for the major event on June 29. Michael Chandler too was excited about the announcement and accepted the challenge.

“I always said I wanted you at your biggest, your baddest and your best. 185 would look good on me,” said Michael Chandler.

Chandler last fought in 2022, when he was comprehensively beaten by Dustin Poirier when he got submitted by Dustin via a Rear Naked Choke and given his fighting history in the UFC, not many weigh him in his favour against Conor McGregor, who's probably amongst the greatest of all time.

Conor has had one of the most glorious UFC careers of all time and such is his popularity and charisma that he made the mixed-martial arts sports, a worldwide recognised sport with his immense popularity. Not only his fights made shows a sell-out, but the increase in viewership too skied up. Also, the Irishman is one of the only few fighters to ever be a UFC champion in two or more divisions. He also gave sporting fans around the world arguably the most famous and biggest UFC rivalry of all time during his time of fued with the legendary and unbeaten, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
