New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah on Monday laid the foundation stone of the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Along with President Ganguly and Secretary Shah, NCA Director VVS Laxman was also present during the event.


Jay Shah has tweeted pictures of the new National Cricket Academy. "Laid the foundation stone for BCCI’s new NCA. It is our collective vision to have a Centre of Excellence which nurtures talent and supports the cricket ecosystem in. Jai Hind! @SGanguly99 @ThakurArunS @ShuklaRajiv @VVSLaxman281," Shah tweeted.






According to media reports, 40 practice pitches will be prepared in the new cricket academy and over 20 flood lights will be installed here. Along with this, a gym will be built in the complex consisting of 250 rooms. Many more facilities including ATMs, banks and shopping centers will also be provided here.






Before VVS Laxman, the current head coach of Team India Rahul Dravid was the head of NCA. Junior players from all over the nation come here for preparation. Apart from this, senior players too come at NCA for rehab in case of injury. Keeping all this in mind, the BCCI decided to re-develop its infrastructure.
