Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup: In what comes as a huge setback to Indian cricket team's chances of winning the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the marquee tournament following a detailed assessment by the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) medical team and consultation with the specialists. Bumrah, was earlier ruled out from the ongoing thee-match T20I series between India and South Africa due to a back injury.
In next few days, BCCI will announce a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the World Cup in Australia. Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar or Mohammed Siraj are the top names who might replace him in India's T20 WC 2022 squad. The star pacer also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to his back problem and made a comeback in the last two T20Is against Australia.
BCCI on Monday said in a statement: " The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists."
Team India are currently playing a three-match ODI series against South Africa. Ind vs SA 3rd T20 International will be played in Indore on October 4. After this, the Indian team will fly for the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 5.
