In the three-match ODI series being played against Sri Lanka, host Bangladesh won the second ODI by 103 runs via Duckworth-Lewis rule. With this, Bangladesh has managed to take an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur played a heroic innings as he scored 125 runs off 127 balls with the help of 10 fours.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 246 runs in 48.1 overs. During the 39th over of Sri Lanka's innings, while they were chasing the target, rain interrupted the match and the game had to be called off.

The game resumed after some time and the match was reduced to 40 overs. Sri Lanka could only manage to score141 runs for nine wickets in 40 overs.
This is Bangladesh's first bilateral series against Sri Lanka. For Bangladesh, apart from Mustafizur and Mehdi, Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets and Shoriful Islam took one wicket.
While chasing the target, no Sri Lankan team batsman could attain a big partnership. Opener Danushka Gunathilaka scored the highest 24 runs in Sri Lanka's innings. Apart from them, Pathun Nishanka scored 20, Kushal Mendis 15, Ashen Bandara 15, Captain Kushal Perera 14, Dasun Sanaka 11 and Dhananjay De Silva scored 10 while Isuru Udana 18 and Dushmanta Chameera remained unbeaten for four runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh did not have a good start and lost the wickets of captain Tamim Iqbal (13), Shakib (0) and Litton Das (25) for a total of 49 runs. Shortly afterwards, Mossadek Hussain (10) also returned to the pavilion.
After the initial setback, Mushfiqur teamed up with Mahmudullah to advance the innings and the two batsmen shared an 87-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
