Ballon d'Or Top 30 Nominations: The Ballon d'Or, which is often referred to as the European Footballer of the Year award will be presented this year in November. It will be presented to the player who has been voted to have performed the best over the previous calendar year, i.e in the 2020-21 season.
Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo are both in the fray to win the award, for the seventh and sixth time, respectively.
This time, Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich can also be given the Ballon d'Or. He had won the Champions League and the German league last year too when the award was canceled citing Covid-19. In the 2020-21 season, Lewandowski scored 41 goals in the Bundesliga, which is a tremendous feat.
Leo Messi, too, had a good season with FC Barcelona and so did Cristiano Ronaldo with Juventus. Although, none of them were able to win any trophies.
Apart from Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski, Ering Haaland, Karim Benzema, Mohammed Salah, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Bruno Fernandes are some of the other greats who are nominated for the award.
The Ballon d'Or award will be announced on November 29, this year.
