New Delhi: ICC Men's T20 World Cup2021 Final will be played between heavyweights New Zealand and Australia on November 14 at Dubai International cricket stadium. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has picked his favorite team between Australia and New Zealand ahead of the summit clash.

Sourav Ganguly believes that the chances of Kane Williamson-led New Zealand winning the final are high. He has shown his support for Black Caps by giving two reasons. As per Ganguly, New Zealand's performance in recent years has been excellent and they won the World Test Championship this year after reaching the final of the ODI World Cup 2019.

“I feel it is New Zealand's time in world sport. Australia are a great nation, but they have had a tough time for a while, though they have been a great cricketing country. New Zealand has a lot more guts and character than we see on TV. They won the World Test Championship a few months ago. It’s a small country but it's got a lot of steel. I have the feeling that it is indeed New Zealand’s time,” remarked Ganguly at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair on Saturday.

Regarding India's T20 World Cup journey, he said that even though Team India failed to reach the semi-finals, he is happy that despite the disappointment, people accepted the result. BCCI President said that Team India will bounce back within a year to win the next T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.

“Expectations were undoubtedly very high, but I was happy to see that a majority of the people had the heart to accept the result. They were upset, but they did not overreact. At the end of the day, (Jaspreet) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami, Rohit (Sharma) and (Virat) Kohli are all human beings,” said the BCCI president.

“That’s 40 overs of bad cricket. They will bounce back and within a year or so we will see the same boys lifting trophies,” he added.
