Asian Games 2023: The Indian shooting contingent added more medals to their tally at the Asian Games on Sunday. The men's and women's team bagged a gold and a silver medal respectively in trap shooting. In men's team event, the Indian triumvirate of Prithviraj Tondaiman, Kynan Chenai, and Zoravar Singh Sandhu bagged a gold medal and as far as the women's team is concerned the trio of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak and Rajeshwari Kumari claimed the silver medal in the trap team event, 


The Indian men combined to shoot 361 in the qualifications to ensure top podium finish. Kuwait's Khaled Almudhaf, Talal Alrashidi and Abdulrahman Alfaihan (359) won the silver medal and host nation China's Yuhao Guo, Ying Qi and Yuhao Wang (354) settled for the bronze. Shooting last, Alrashidi tried his his best and scored 24 points but that was not enough to surpass the Indian total.


Indian Women's Team Bags Silver Medal 


The trio of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak and Rajeshwari Kumari totalled 337 to secure silver medal for India. The gold medal was bagged by China's Qingnian Li, Cuicui Wu and Xinqiu Zhang, who combined to shoot a world and games record score of 357 to finish on top of the podium. Kazakhstan's Mariya Dmitriyenko, Aizhan Dosmagambetova and Anastassiya Prilepina (336) won the bronze medal.


In addition, Manisha also advanced to the finals as well. She was tied on 114 with three others but advanced via a shoot-off. Kynan Chenai (122) and Zoravar Singh Sandhu (120) have also qualified for the individual final in men's competition.


India Bags Gold In Men's 50m Rifle Event, Women Claim Silver In 10m Air Pistol      


Earlier on Friday, India clinched a gold in the men's 50m rifle three-positions team event with a world record, while the Esha Singh-led women's 10m air pistol trio bagged a silver. India has so far secured 15 medals at the shooting range which include five gold.


The men's 50m rifle 3-positions team, comprising the young trio of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (591), Swapnil Kusale (591), and Akhil Sheoran (587), overcame the Chinese challenge with ease with a score of 1769. The hosts bagged a silver medal after they were a clear six points adrift with 1763 points. South Korea secured a bronze medal with 1748 points.


Aishwary and Swapnil shot superbly to make the individual finals as well and are placed first and second after the qualification round. Despite finishing fifth with 587 in qualification, Akhil will miss out on the eight-team finals as only two shooters are allowed in the individual medal round from each country.
