Singapore: Brandon Vera, the legendary MMA Champion put his ONE Championship World Heavyweight title on the line against the Canadian-born Indian, Arjan Singh Bhullar. Vera lost the bout in two rounds making Bhullar the first Indian origin Champion in One Championship.

One Championship is an organization that conducts Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) matches. It is considered to be in the top three MAA leagues behind UFC and IFL. Bhullar has won a medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games representing Canada.

The first round began with a series of punches from Bhullar. He looked good on his feet but once there was a takedown, Vera successfully attempted an omoplata lock and kept Bhullar on the ground for two minutes.

The second round was completely one-sided as Vera couldn't stand Bhullar's punches and the referee had to intervene to stop the game midway.

"India, we got one now,” Bhullar said after the victory. “Your first world champion. Let’s go.”

“We were gonna box him up, get in and out range, wrestle him, pressure him, break him. That was the game plan,” he continued. “I knew I was gonna hurt him. My coaches knew it. I’m well trained, guys. I’ve been with the best since day one.”

"I have reached the pinnacle of this sport. Now, I wanna attack the pro wrestling industry. AWE, WWE, I’m coming for you guys next. Consider this a warning.”

In the other One Championship matches played on Saturday in Singapore, Ritu Phogat lost after a controversial decision. She was declared winner, but a split decision led to her loss afterward.
