New Delhi: Islamic State suicide bombers and gunmen on Thursday killed a total of 85 people outside the Kabul Airport in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. According to a health official, the toll of Afghans killed has risen to 72, including 28 Taliban members.
As per a report in Reuters. The U.S. military confirmed 13 of its service members were killed in the attack on Thursday. SIS-K has claimed responsibility for the dreaded terror attacks after which US President Biden warned the terrorists of dire consequences.
Reacting to the horrific attack at Kabul airport, Afghanistan's star cricketer Rashid Khan took to Twitter to urge the world community to help stop the killing of Afghans.
“Kabul is bleeding again, stop killing Afghan please,” a heartbroken Rashid wrote on Twitter.
Ever since Afghanistan has been taken over by the Taliban there has been turmoil in this country and the future of the nation looks extremely uncertain. Rashid Khan was recently seen playing in The Hundred tournament in England, during which he had painted Afghanistan's flag on both sides of his face during a match.
Rashid Khan plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will be seen playing in the IPL 2021 Phase 2. Even during The Hundred tournament, Rashid looked very distressed about the situation in his homeland. Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen had revealed that Rashid was very worried about his family amid the ongoing crisis.
Following Taliban takeover, questions were raised about Afghanistan's participation in the upcoming T20 World, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that Afghanistan will take part in the coveted tournament.
