An interesting tale of food on the space station is that of two rogue tomatoes which were lost while NASA astronaut Frank Rubio was working on an experiment called XROOTS.

Plant research and food production on the International Space Station are ambitious experiments because successfully growing crops on the orbital outpost will help astronauts understand what needs to be done for future spaceflight missions to the Moon and Mars.
