JAXA Restores Communication With SLIM Moon Lander, Shares Spacecraft’s First Images Of Lunar Rocks. SEE PICS
Communication with SLIM was established on January 29, 2024, and operations were resumed. The Multi-Band Camera (MBC) has captured its first images of lunar rocks.
SLIM Moon Lander: The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has successfully restored communication with the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM), which made a soft landing on the lunar surface earlier this month. JAXA had said in a mission update that while SLIM soft-landed on the Moon on January 19, 2024, the solar cells were not generating power, and the space agency was prioritising data acquisition from the spacecraft.
