Transition From El Niño To La Niña With Intermediate ‘Neutral’ Phase Likely In June-August 2024: National Weather Service

A transition from El Niño to La Niña is likely to occur in June-August this year, with an intermediate El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral phenomenon taking place in April-June.

There is a 79 per cent chance of a transition from El Niño to ENSO-neutral occurring anytime between April and June, and a 55 per cent of La Niña developing in June-August, the US National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center said on February 8, 2024.
