When Should Kaal Bhairav Puja Be Performed?
According to the Shiva Purana, it is believed that Kaal Bhairav manifested during the evening, at the time of Pradosh. Worshipping Kaal Bhairav during this time pleases him. Since tantric worship is performed at night, those seeking siddhis, such as Aghoris and practitioners of tantra, should worship Kaal Bhairav during the Nishita Kaal Muhurat. Saturday and Sunday are considered the best days for this.
How Many Forms Of Baba Bhairav Are There?
According to the Avanti Khand of the Skanda Purana, Lord Bhairav has 8 forms. Among them, Kal Bhairav is the third. The other 7 forms emerged from Bhairav, each named according to their form and function. Their names are: Ruru Bhairav, Sanhar Bhairav, Kal Bhairav, Asit Bhairav, Krodh Bhairav, Bhishan Bhairav, Maha Bhairav, and Khatvang Bhairav.
Two Siddhis Associated With Bhairav
There are two types of worship for Kaal Bhairav: Rajasic Siddhi and Tamsic Siddhi. Each requires a different method. Tamsic worship involves mantras, havan, etc., during which spirits and ghosts may attach to the body. Therefore, one must practice their Ishta mantra separately, or these energies could pull the person into their realm. This is why householders should perform the regular worship of Kaal Bhairav.
