Ravichandran Ashwin named Kings XI Punjab skipper for IPL season 11

Ashwin also becomes a surprise pick as he is currently out of the Indian team in the limited overs format

The Punjab-based franchise had its eyes set on Yuvraj Singh and there were several reports also about Yuvraj being thought about as the captain of KXIP but it was not to be.

India’s premiere off spinner, Ashwin was bought by a whopping INR 7.60 crores by Kings Xi Punjab during the auctions held in January this year.

Ashwin was not retained by Chennai Super Kings and the yellow brigade lost out the to bid Kings XI.

The franchise on Monday afternoon announced the captain of the team on their twitter handle.

Kings XI Punjab sprang in a surprise by naming Ravichandran Ashiwn as their captain for IPL season 11.
