The year 2020 would probably be recalled as one of the toughest ones for mankind as it brought with it a number of setbacks. Apart from the global pandemic and natural disasters, people mourned the demise of a number of revered personalities. While the entertainment world was left shocked to the core after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Irfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor; the political circles too were aggrieved by the demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel. View In AppPranab Mukherjee: The former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee who served from 2012 to 2017, passed on August 31, 2020 at the age of 84. The demise of the Congress stalwart who was respected by one and all, elicited an outpouring of grief across the political spectrum. A towering figure in Indian politics, Pranab Mukherjee was referred to as Pranab da by almost everyone known to him. He passed away after undergoing treatment for nearly three weeks. He was in septic shock due to lung infection.
Jaswant Singh: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart and former Union Minister Jaswant Singh passed away in Delhi on September 27 this year following a cardiac arrest at the age of 82 years. One of the founder members of BJP, Singh held Defence, External Affairs and Finance portfolios in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.
Amar Singh: Former Samajwadi Party (SP) and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh passed away on August 1 2020, in Singapore after prolonged illness. Singh, 64, was ill from sometime and was undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Singapore since past few months.
Ram Vilas Paswan: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder Ram Vilas Paswan , one of the tallest political leaders to emerge from Bihar, passed away ahead of the crucial assembly polls in the state. He passed away at the age of 74 on October 8, 2020.
Ahmed Patel: Congress veteran and party's ace troubleshooter Ahmed Patel passed away on November 25 due to post-Covid issues. A Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat and Treasurer of the Indian National Congress, Ahmed Patel had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus on October 1. He was one of the closest aides of party president Sonia Gandhi and was her political adviser.
Motilal Vora: Veteran Congress leader passed away on December 21, a day after celebrating his 93rd birthday. The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister breathed his last at the Fortis hospital, where he had been admitted since December 19 with complaints of dyspnea or shortness of breath with altered sensorium and hypotension (low blood pressure). Vora had tested Covid-19 positive in October but recovered and was discharged from hospital on October 16.
