A series of wildfires fanned by high winds and hot temperatures took over thousands of acres in California forcing the authorities to issue red flag weather warnings and mandatory evacuation orders. The latest blaze that was sparked in the Yolo Country on Saturday had by the next day spread across 22,000 acres reportedly. Image: AFP/ Josh Edelson

There are other active blazes in California. The Pawnee Fire in the Lake County has burnt 14,250 acres reportedly but has been 73 percent contained as of early Sunday.
