Often, in a bid to attack their opponents, politicians are unable to hold their horses, and end up creating a stir with their ill-thought utterances. Most of the times, these bizarre statements are not directed towards anybody, but depict sheer ignorance of the leaders. The year 2020 saw several such instances, some are enumerated below.
'Gaumutra' and 'Gobar' to cure Coronavirus: BJP MLA Suman Haripriya When the coronavirus pandemic erupted in India, several fake news made their way into social media and government launched a fact-checking campaign to keep a check on these false information. However, what would the government do, if an unverified claim was being made by its own leader? Assam BJP MLA Suman Haripriya claimed that cow urine and cow dung could be used to cure coronavirus. “We all know cow dung is very helpful. Likewise, when cow urine is sprayed, it purifies an area. I believe something similar could be done with cow urine, cow dung to cure coronavirus,” she said.
‘What Recession? People Still Wearing Coats, Jackets Instead Of Kurtas: BJP MP Bharatiya Janata Party MP Virendra Singh Mast, left everyone dumbfounded when he denied recession in country on the grounds that people are still wearing coats and jackets. He claimed that country is not going through a phase of economic recession as people can be seen wearing coats and jackets instead of kurta and dhoti. He said: There have been discussions in Delhi and the world, about a recession. If there was any recession, we would have come here wearing 'kurta' and 'dhoti', not coats and jackets. If there was a recession we would not have bought clothes, pants, and pajamas.”
