IN PICS: TN Ministerial Delegates Inspect Periyar Memorial At Vaikom

A delegation of senior Ministers including Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Minister E V Velu inspected the Periyar memorial at Vaikom on Monday

The inspection was held in the backdrop of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s plan to celebrate the centenary of Vaikom sathyagraha next year

The year 2024 marks the centenary of the Vaikom sathyagraha. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister ordered us to inspect the Thanthai Periyar Memorial and ascertain its condition, Velu told PTI in Kottayam.

The Minister who was also accompanied by Information Minister M P Saminathan said that they would also submit a report to the CM about the visit.

It is also expected that Stalin would make an announcement on whether to renovate the structure or build a new one
