Chennai: Woman Footballer Dies Due To Medical Negligence During Surgery, Family Stages Protest. See Pics

A teenage footballer player, R Priya, died after an alleged botched surgery performed on her leg, on Tuesday. The surgery was performed to treat a ligament on her right knee at Periyar Nagar Government Peripheral Hospital in Chennai

After the surgery, Priya reportedly complained of knee pain. Following this, she was administered a band aid and tablets. She was also put to sleep again

On November 8, she was reportedly referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH). At RGGGH, the doctors amputated her and also performed another surgery on Monday

However, Priya died due to multi-organ failure as a result of medical negligence during the botched surgery

Following this, Priya's family members staged a protest while the post-mortem was ongoing. However, the police pacified the protesters and sent Priya's body in an ambulance to her home
