Jasprit Bumrah A Wicket Away From Smashing Malinga's Iconic IPL Record
Still working on finding his rhythm and accuracy, Bumrah hasn't been at his lethal best so far this season. However, even in a phase of rebuilding, the Indian pacer continues to break records and add to his legacy.
In the recent clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bumrah achieved a special milestone by becoming the fastest Indian to reach 300 wickets in T20 cricket. Now, as Mumbai Indians gear up to face Lucknow Super Giants, another major record awaits him.
Bumrah currently shares the record with Lasith Malinga for the most IPL wickets for Mumbai Indians — both with 170 wickets.
One more scalp, and Bumrah will surpass Malinga to become MI's all-time leading wicket-taker in the league. Harbhajan Singh sits third on the list with 127 wickets for the franchise.
Bumrah's wicket of Heinrich Klaasen against SRH helped him complete 300 wickets in T20s - making him only the second Indian fast bowler after Bhuvneshwar Kumar to reach the milestone. What sets him apart is that he's reached the landmark in the fewest matches among Indian bowlers.
While the form might be a work in progress, Jasprit Bumrah's ability to create history with every appearance remains as sharp as ever.
