Glenn Maxwell's Sudden IPL 2025 Exit Explained By Shreyas Iyer

During the toss, Iyer confirmed that star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has suffered a finger fracture and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.

Speaking at the toss, Iyer said, “Unfortunately, Glenn Maxwell has fractured his finger.” He added that the team has yet to finalize a replacement, but the injury has ruled Maxwell out of the tournament.

Maxwell had a disappointing run in IPL 2025 before his injury. In 7 matches, he managed just 48 runs at an average of 8 and a strike rate of 97.96.

With the ball, he took 4 wickets at an average of 27.50. His form had already been under scrutiny, and now the injury has ended his season prematurely.

Despite Maxwell's exit, Punjab Kings remain in the playoff race. They have played 9 matches so far, winning 5, losing 3, and seeing one match washed out.

With 11 points and a net run rate of +0.177, they are currently fifth in the points table. To secure a spot in the top four, they will likely need to win at least 3 of their remaining 5 matches.
