View In AppThe senior all-rounder scripted history in his comeback match on Friday, becoming the first-ever Indian cricketer to score a half-century and take a five-wicket haul in the same match on five occasions.
On day 1 of Ind vs Aus 1st Test, the 34-year-old picked a five-wicket haul and later scored an unbeaten fifty on Day 2.
Achieving the feat, Jadeja broke Kapil Dev's (4) record of scoring a half-century and taking a five-wicket haul in the same match.
On Day 2, Jadeja scored a superb unbeaten half-century (66*), stitched an unbroken 81-run stand with Axar Patel for the 8th wicket to put India on top, ending the Day with a 144-run lead over Australia.
Apart from Jadeja, captain Rohit Sharma was another player who emerged as the star performer for team India.
Rohit Sharma hit 120 runs off 212 balls, with help of 15 fours and two sixes. His hard-fought ton proved to be crucial for India on Day 2.
