Indian cricket stalwart Virat Kohli flew back home on December 22, just before Team India's 1st Test match against South Africa scheduled for December 26, citing a family emergency, Cricbuzz reported.

View In AppVirat Kohli had initially been rested for the white-ball segment of the South Africa series and had travelled for IND vs SA Test series.
However, Virat Kohli was absent from the Intra-squad match in the camp after receiving permission from the team management.
BCCI sources have confirmed that Virat Kohli will return in time for IND vs SA 1st Test, set to commence on December 26.
Reportedly, India's opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad will also be sidelined for IND vs SA two-Test series due to a finger fracture.
“He (Ruturaj Gaikwad) hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained to his ring finger while fielding in the second ODI. He remains under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.” the BCCI statement said.
