Smith could be seen in action as soon as next month; he is likely to play in Global T20 Canada 20-over tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Toronto from 28 June to 16 July.
The T20 league will feature 6 teams, with a minimum four Canadian players in each squad.
He was also barred from the cash-rich Indian Premier League for his role in the infamous saga.
The 29-year-old was expected to lead Rajasthan Royals in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The suspension prohibits him from playing states, Big Bash and national level cricket.
