View In AppMushfiqur remained unbeaten on 219 off 421 balls when Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah decided to declare the innings at 522 for 7.
Mushfiqur’s marathon innings surpassed the likes of MS Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist, Andy Flower and Kumar Sangakkara, who all had only one double century as wicket-keepers.
This is the first double hundred of 2018. The little man is also the first Bangladeshi to have two double tons to his name.
Interestingly, Mushfiqur was also the first Bangladeshi to score a Test double ton back in 2013 against Sri Lanka in Galle. Later on, opener Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined him in the elite club.
Records continued to tumble in the ongoing the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 2nd Test match at Dhaka.
On Day 1 Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim shared 266 runs in their fourth-wicket stand, helping Bangladesh bounce back from 26-3 to cross the 200-run mark for the first time in their last nine Test innings.
Mominul faced 242 balls and hit 19 fours in his seventh Test century, while Mushfiqur smashed nine fours for his sixth Test hundred. They surpassed Bangladesh's previous record-high for a fourth-wicket stand of 180 runs, shared by Mominul and Liton Das against Sri Lanka earlier this year.
While Mushfiqur and Mominul shared the honours on Day 1, Day 2 belonged to Mushfiqur alone.
The former Bangladesh captain became the first wicket-keeper in the history of cricket to score two Test double hundreds.
