There is no shortage of talent in their bench. With Harbhajan and Karn Sharma already there, CSK doesn’t even need another spin-bowling option and Jadeja’s batting has been doing more harm to the scoring rate than giving it a push. It won’t be such a bad idea to replace him with a specialist batsman.

Here are two players, who can take Jadeja’s place in the playing XI for CSK’s upcoming matches.

Dhruv Shorey: A talented young right-hander from Delhi, who has taken giant strides after having a productive domestic season, will be an ideal replacement at the middle order, where CSK is lacking.

Shorey, picked up in his base price of 20 lakhs, was particularly impressive in the led-up to the IPL, striking at a healthy strike rate of 160 in the practice matches at Chepauk.

Jadeja was preferred over Ashwin and was retained along with Dhoni and Raina at the start of the season and rightly too. He had played a stellar role in the franchise’s consistent performance over the years.

While there is no need to press the panic button yet but CSK would be mightily concerned about the form of one of their key players – Ravindra Jadeja.
