Pant went ahead of Wriddhiman Saha’s record to be on the top. Saha took 10 catches during the Cape Town Test earlier this year

Earlier his year, Rishabh Pant began his Test career against England in Nottingham and grabbed 5 catches to set Indian record of most catches by a wicketkeeper on debut.
In the first Australia vs India Test, a total of 35 catches were taken which is a world record. The previous record was set in South Africa vs Australia Test, played in Cape Town which will be remembered for the infamous sandpaper gate.
Pant took 6 catches in the first innings and equalled MS Dhoni’s record of most runs by an Indian wicketkeeper in an innings, which he set in 2009 against New Zealand in Wellington

He may have been volatile with the bat as he scored 53 runs (25 runs off 38 in 1st and 28 off 16 in the 2nd innings) but he showcased some decent skills behind the wicket
In the first Test against Australia in Adelaide, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to grab 11 catches in a match
He has equalled the records of Jack Russell (against South Africa in 1995) and AB de Villiers (against Pakistan in 2013) of most catches by a wicketkeeper in a Test match
