Interestingly, all-rounder Kedar Jadhav was the front runner to take Rayudu’s spot after recovering from an injury sustained at the start of IPL.
However, the selectors surprised everyone by going with Raina, ignoring the likes of Jadhav and Manish Pandey, who were regulars in the Indian ODI side.
While it was learnt that the selectors were not on the same page regarding Rayudu’s replacement, the committee has now made up its mind.
Rayudu’s Chennai Super Kings teammate Suresh Raina has been named as his replacement.
Rayudu’s YoYo Test failure has come as a shock for many, especially after his successful IPL campaign (602 runs) with Chennai Super Kings. Rayudu scored a dismal 14 in the test while qualifying mark is 16.1.
After going through all the possibilities, the Indian selection committee chaired by MSK Prasad has finally zeroed in on Amabati Rayudu’s replacement for the England ODI series.
Rayudu, who was originally named in the 15-member England-bound ODI squad, was axed after he failed to clear the YoYo test on Friday.
