Apart from Russell, Tallawahs' roster is full of big names including Ross Taylor, David Miller and the Pakistan allrounders Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik.
Now Russell has been named the captain of the Caribbean Premiere League franchise Jamiaca Tallawahs for the upcoming season.
Russell had missed the last season after he was banned by the ICC for one year for failing to report for dope test.
Russell, who represents various franchises in India, Pakistan, Australia and West Indies has been in terrific form in the past few years or so.
Russell had a terrific season with the Knight Riders, adding depth to their team with his all-round performance. He scored 316 runs in 14 innings, apart from picking up 13 wickets.
Match winning performances on a regular basis meant it was only a matter of time before West Indian T20 specialist Andre Russell would be appointed captain of his franchise.
