Both the leaders on Saturday evening met the family of the Hathras victim, declaring they will fight for justice to the Dalit woman who died after being allegedly gang-raped. The Hathras case has propelled Congress to the fore of the UP politics, as its top leaders as well as workers were seen on the ground, whereas Mayawati’s BSP which identifies itself as a party that works for the welfare of Dalits was seen missing out, while Congress had all the limelight. On Thursday, Rahul was on his way to Hathras, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior leaders. He was detained by the police. Police Personnel told Gandhi he was being detained as he was marching in an area where section 144 has been imposed.
