Life was not a bed of roses for her but she managed to overcome all the odds. There were times when Manya had to sleep without eating anything.
Manya Singh, while exclusively talking to ABP News, said, “I started working from the age of 14. I used to work in Pizza Hut. I have even worked as a dishwasher. I have also seen days where I had to clean someone’s shoes.”
Manya also worked in a call center to help her family in overcoming their financial crisis. She says, “I was pursuing my degree in college when I had to work for my family. I thought that my father and mother should never wish for a son, who could earn and take the responsibility of the family.” Manya has a young brother, who is currently studying in class tenth.
Manya’s father faced difficulties in running the household and could barely afford Manya’s school education. She couldn’t receive formal education from class third to tenth due to financial crisis. “My parents requested my school authorities to allow me to study in their school as they couldn’t pay the fees. They could only pay the examination fees every year. This is how I completed my primary education till class tenth. My mother had to sell her silver anklet to pay my college fees,” she said.
Manya further said that she joined a call center to improve her communication skills and not just not earn money to run her household. She added that she wanted to strengthen her skills to participate in the beauty pageant. I wanted to learn how to talk while working in the call center. I also wished to improve my language and also increase my confidence.
Manya ran away to Mumbai from Gorakhpur due to her financial condition. She couldn’t eat anything during her three-day travel as she had no money. The Miss India 2020 runner-up concluded the interview with beautiful lines. She said, “I am determined to never give up in life no matter what the situation is.” (All PICS Credit: Instagram)
