The mortal remains of the late art director were taken to ND Studio on Friday for his last rites.

Desai is survived by his wife Naina, daughter Mansi and son Siddhant.

Desai was found hanging on the premises of his studio at Karjat in Raigad district on Wednesday. Police said it seemed to be a case of suicide and added that the matter was being investigated from all angles.

In a career spanning more than 30 years, Desai worked with directors like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, and Ashutosh Gowariker, creating sprawling sets for scores of films, including Devdas, Swades, Jodhaa Akbar, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Parinda.
