Karnataka Results: On Counting Day Eve, What BJP And Congress Leaders Said On Their Party's Prospects
A day before the counting of votes of the Karnataka Assembly election, Congress, BJP and JD(S) leaders shared their opinion on the upcoming results. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday reiterated that the BJP is all set to cross the magic number and will get the majority. Congress will not get the majority, and hence the leaders of the party are talking to others. I have been saying one thing from the beginning. We will get a clear majority. We believe a comfortable victory will be achieved, and we will cross the limit of seats required for majority,” CM Bommai said. (Image: PTI)

I do not know about JD(S), let them take their own call. I don't have any backup plan, my only plan is that Congress party will come to power,” said Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar. “Our party has the strategy of discussing things after meeting each other. If we tell you everything, what would remain? We will see tomorrow,” said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge when asked that BJP is claiming to get a majority and is still in touch with JD(S) as a backup plan. (Image: PTI)
“We are winning in Karnataka because we levelled allegations of 40% commission Govt against CM Bommai and people trusted us. We had done the same in Rajasthan. But if we don't work on it within 4.5 years, how will we make ourselves credible before people? I neither harbour a sense of vengeance nor am I against any person. Congress party will win with a thumping majority. People are upset with the BJP rule,” said Congress leader Sachin Pilot. (Image: PTI)
“We are confident about crossing the ‘magic number’ and forming the government on our own. All exit polls will be proven wrong,” said Union minister Pralhad Joshi. (Image: PTI)
“We have already decided with whom we are going to form the government. We will announce it to the public when the appropriate time comes,” said JD(S) national spokesperson Tanveer Ahmed. (Image: ANI)
“I want to thank the 6.5 crore people of Karnataka who have voted for the Congress party. Let us wait till tomorrow, till the results are out. BJP has admitted their defeat. Congress party will form the government and we will serve the people of Karnataka,” said Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala. (Image: PTI)
“I am absolutely sure that JDS will disintegrate… This time I do not think that there is any scope for a coalition government with JDS. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, we were there for 23 days in Karnataka and visited 7 districts. We don’t have any doubt. We will get majority votes. We have promised 5 guarantees in our manifesto, and because of these guarantees Congress is guaranteed to win. Congress' victory in Karnataka is PM Modi's defeat because no one campaigned in Karnataka except him,” said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. (Image: PTI)
“I am very confident tomorrow Karnataka BJP is going to break two jinx. One, after 1985, a political party has not come back to power again twice in succession and second that BJP Karnataka has not crossed 113 on our own till now. We are very confident when BJP is crossing 113 mark of our own and there is no question of seeking anybody's support,” said Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai. (Image: PTI)
